Feedback On Our Opening
In lesson we all watched each others films and had to feedback to each group what we thought
there film was like. We had to comment on what rate the production followed codes and conventions, the planning, what level of imagination they used, technical aspects and how could it be improved. With the feedback our group got overall they thought the rate in terms of us following codes and conventions of romantic comedy was average with others saying it was good. The evidence that the audience saw, they thought that the planning of the production was a level 2, with 1 being excellent and 5 being poor. They said that from the evidence they saw it showed some imagination, this was quite good as the other options were no imagination, little imagination and high imagination & creative flair. They next had to comment on the technical aspects of the piece. They had to mark each technical aspect with 1 being excellent and 5 being poor. They first had to comment on the shot composition, overall the score was 3, but with one person saying it was a 4. The next one was mise-en-scene, out of the 5 feedback sheets 3 groups said it was a 3, but 2 groups said it was a 2. Editing got three groups saying 3, one group saying 2 and another group saying 1. Sound and music got two groups saying 2, two groups saying 3 and one group saying 4. Finally Use of titles got two groups saying 1, two groups saying 3 and one group saying 2. The comments we got of improving our work was mainly that the change in music did not go right and could of picked a better second song and made a smoother transition between each song. There were other comments such as better shots could of been used, more romance and less things in film.

Editing
We used a Recording Lgo and and edit decision list before editing. We wrote down the time on the camera for every shot we done. Once we done that we decided what shots we were going to actually use, for this we used an edit decision list. We then logged and captured to put the shots on the computer that we needed. When we started to edit to put the shots all in order before we started to add effects. The girls shots where already on the computer so we have already cut them down to what we needed. Before we got the boys and the meeting filmed we started to do the credits, we started with a black backgrouynd and pink writing, however at the end we didnt think that it looked right, it looked more like a thriller or horror with the black background for every credit. We used this style of credit for two of the shots. Then we put the credit on the picture/shot of film as this looked more professional and more like a romantic comedy. We had alot of dissolves in our film as this made it more look professional and had more movement. We had to show that the time had passed while they were waiting for each other. We done two shots of the girls watch. We took a shot at 3 pm then another shot at 3.30 pm. We added an additive dissolve between the two of these shots to show that time had passed. We also added another dissolve whent he boy is brushing his teeth then to the girl brushing her teeth, this is called a bridge. We added a song at th beggining which is a very cheerful, happy song to show that they are exctied about meeting each other, and also if you listen to the words it goes nicely together as it is saying, "someone to call my lover". We had a slow passed song for the meeting bit as this shows that it is a slow proceed as they finally meet. The song is called "Is it you?". This goes really well as they do not know what each other look like. At the end of the opening they look at each other when she phones him and the lyrics say "Is it you?".

Filming
Location: Girls part, My house

Me and my group filmed all the girls parts at her house, when her and the boy are talking online and when she is getting ready to go and meet him. We started with the establishing shot of the girls house. At first we just filmed about 20 seconds of the house but this was not part of the film it was just pre roll. It was a good job we done this because when we looked back at the tape the filming has black lines threw it. We then started to film properly and the tape was fine. We did not film in order as you can put the shots in order when you are editing. We then filmed the girl coming out of her house and this worked just fine. We then done the shots inside the house. We had to do some of the shots twice and they did not work the first time round. When the girl had to brush her teeth she acted as if the camera was the mirror for her. We will do the same thing for the boy. We had to decide what we was going to say in the online chat. Everything worked fine in the end even though we had to redo some of the shots.
I filmed the boys part and when the boy and girl meet. When i put the filming on the computer the boys part said that it could not log and capture. When we kept looking back to watch it, it had lines threw it so in the end it would not work. At first the meeting part was saying that it could not log and capture but then we put the tape into a camera and attached it to the computer than by putting the tape in the tape that is already attached to the computer. It logged and captured fine in the end so we did not have to redo the filming for the meeting part. However i did have to re film the boys part. I filmed the boys part and the camera broke to the next day i had to get another camera and film again. This worked perfectly fine when i took it into college the next day to log and capture. Overall i filmed three times for the boys part, but finally it all worked out. We filmed a shot of the boy puttin his jacket on ready to go out to meet the girl. when it came to editing we decided not to use this shot and it didnt flow quite right from shot to shot

Ideas of films
My group and I thought of two different ideas.
The first one was a man going to get a newspaper and a women picks up the same one. They are both in a rush to get to a certain place. The man is going for an interview and the women is off to work. They argue and the women says 'you just have the paper' then she goes off to work. The man heads to go to his interview, he walked threw the door to go into the room for the interview and the women he has had an argument with about the newspaper is standing the room, she is about to interview him.
The second idea was two young people on the computer having an online chat. The boy is a chav and says that he has allot of money. The girl says she is just an ordinary girl but she is actually rich. They arrange to meet at a place. They both get there and they stand near each other but they do not know as they don't recognise each other as they have lied about themselves. The girl rings the boys phone and the boy who she is standing next to his phone rings, they look at each other then the opening finishes.
We have decided to do the second idea as this is more practical for us to do as we can use young people for our filming.
It would of been more difficult for us to use the first idea because we would of had to get older people to be apart in our filming.

Secondary Research
As apart of my secondary research i am researching on uk film council.
I found out that in 2007 there was 127 releases of comedy films, the gross box office (£ million) they made 206.6. There was 28 thriller releases with the gross box office (£ million) of 67.6. There were 24 horror releases witht he gross box office (£ million) 28.8. There were 21 romance releases with the gross box office (£ million) of 15.7. Overall the most popular by far was comedy, they made more money than romance, horror and thriller films. However there was alot more comedy releases than the other three, therefore they were bound to make more money.
As many people watched comedy films in 2007 my group and i thought it would be best to do a comedy with added romace in, to make a romantic comedy.

I asked 15 people to do my questionnaire and here is what i got.
12 out of 20 females aged between 12 - 18 preferred Romantic Comedy. 50% of these girls preferred the romance and the other 50% preferred the comedy, so it is equal with what people prefer, the romance or the comedy. The two most common places where they prefer to see a romantic comedy was the city and the countryside. The most common favourite romantic comedy people write down was Bridget Jones Diary. This is a very popular film still although it is very old. Sex And The City was also a very popular favourite romantic comedy, this is a very big film so many people may find it there favourite as shown.
Most people who listen to Rock music preferred horror films. They preferred to see the setting in an isolated place, this makes it more scarier because no one else is around. The most props that people said that they expect to see in horrors is knifes and blood. The things that most people like about horrors is for them being scared, the thought of what is going to happen next and that it makes them jump. Most people aged between 31 - 36 preferred thrillers. All answers apart from 5 said they prefer to see the setting in a house, the other 5 said in a church. In Thrillers they most expect to see blood, and gore, but most of all things that made you jump. The answers varied with how many thrillers they watched amonth, the most answer was 3.
